The Poovar river, a tributary of the Neyyar, flows south of Kerala’s capital city. As trees with thick foliage grow on its banks, sunlight doesn’t reach the waters at many spots. A two-hour boat trip along this shady path is the highlight of any visit to enjoy the beauty of the destination.
The boat ride through the thick mangrove forests is a must see . One would not get a chance to see mangrove forest at many places. Insist on a ride which takes you through the narrow channels instead of wider ones because that’s where the real mangroves are.
