To be frank, I do not know why it is called so in Nigeria, whether the German brought the first seedlings or whatever.
I would love to ask @To_paul to help clarify me on this issue, any information from any Local Guide is welcomed.
@Muhammad_Usman @SabbirShawon @TravellerG Do you have mango tree in your locality?
How do you eat or enjoy mangoes?
Here I do not want to talk about the nutritional values of Mango, but I want to tell you another important secret why mango trees is seen all over University of Nigeria Enugu campus.
Here is a 360 streetveiw photo of the administrative block.
In the University, we use Mango trees as a shade tree to shield us (students) against the ultraviolet rays of the sun and to provide cooling effect.
I know @To_paul Will be asking in his mind why did Austin mention Tropical Flamboyant Tree.
For your suspicion Paul, Tropical flamboyant tree is a wonderful shade tree, it is grown primarily to provide shade here in the University.
We lie in the tropics, In the Afternoon the sun is intense (because of Climate change) in its full range, Tropical Flamboyant Tree is planted along the walkway to provide shade.

It is also planted at car parks to serve as a protective canopy for staff and students vehicles.
Mango and Tropical Flamboyant Tree are very useful tools in the fight against global warming. ?
Tree planting is encouraged all over the world to combat Global warming by reducing carbon emissions. Rotary International also encourages tree planting campaign every Rotary year, a day is set to plant a tree.
As Local Guides we need to encourage tree planting and see our trees beyond what others see it as a fruit producing tree or as an ornamental tree.
Thank you and feel free to ask any questions. ??
