Mandu is a perfect heritage site, renowned for eternallove of Baz Bahadur and Rupmati as it was a flourishing town since 6th century then passed to the Parmaras Rulers to finally Baz Bahadur was a top after a decade. His beloved wife Rani Roopmati committed suicide after the defeat of Baz Bahadur in the battle of Sarangpur in 1561 AD by Adham Khan who was leading the Akbar’s Army. A selfless love between Baz Bahadur and Rupmati still survives in the people of Malwa in the form of folk songs, which had a temporary end. Mandu is worth to be visited by the tourists as lot of attractions as first Marble Structure Hoshang Shah’s tomb, Roopmati’s Pavilion which offers the panoramic views of Nimar Valley and Narmada, Baz Bahadur’s Palace, Jahaz Mahal in between the two artificial lakes, Hindola Mahal, Turkish Bath, Champa Baori, Darya Khan’s tomb, Rewa Kund, Nilkanth Mahadev Temple a Monument which was built by Akbar, Massive Gates, Jama Masjid etc. We had famous Dal Bati in our lunch and Taste was special. Afghan Architecture is significant in all the monuments.
It has numerous Hotels and resorts like Malwa Resort and Malwa Retreat of MP Tourism, Hotel Rupmati, Hotel Jahaj Mahal etc are couple friendly and renown for their hospitality. It can be accessed from Indore by road and Indore is having all the means.
Every year in the month of December a five days Mandu Festival is organized where visitors are compelled to indulge in many activities like paragliding, para sailing, all terrain or quad bike’s rides etc and many colorful night events which are quite pleasing. For further details my First List all may be referred**.** It’s quite popular among the film makers and popular site for pre-wedding shoots and photo shoots. For tourist it’s a quite picturesque site.
