Yet another overdue recap - I reached the end of 2022 and realised I hadn’t done recaps of the last two MeetUps I’d organised: so here is the second one; better late than never.
It was at the end of a snowy, frozen week, with sub-zero temperatures in the evenings, when a good group of Manchester Local Guides met at Heaton Park Metro Station, and slithered, slipped and slid on the path along to the ticket barrier. The paths inside the event, however, seemed to have been cleared and were easy walking.
It was great to welcome new Local Guides @NamureE and friend - experienced Local Guides, but their first time meeting withe the Manchester Group.
The Lightopia Experience was divided into sections, with a flower walk through the trees, fantastical monsters, some musical installations that reacted to movement with light and sound, and many other sections.
And the highlight of the evening (apart from food, drink, and warm company and friendship) was the Centrepiece with a laser projected lightshow with sound projected onto the mist above the lake in the centre of the park. This video gives a good feel of what we could see.
So all in all, I think we agree it was a good night out together. Thank you @NamureE @deadmanjones , @ZoeOooe , Jorge and friends for making it a great evening. The photo album to which we all contributed and where you can see many from the evening is here
Here’s the original post advertising the MeetUp and this is the location of the park where the MeetUp occurred.
This event was organised by Google Local Guides, Manchester. We are an active group of Local Guides who try to arrange several face-to-face MeetUps during the year. Everyone is more than welcome to join us. Keep searching Manchester LG in Local Guides Connect for details of past and forthcoming events.
