Manali Trip

Hi Everyone,

This post is about my trip to Manali in February 2020. It was a trip with my college friends and intended to be an Industrial Trip but due to unforeseen reason of strike by labourers in the area of Power Plant, we couldn’t make it.

So we enjoyed ourselves by visiting Mall Road, Vashista Temple, Hadimba Devi Mandir, Ram Mandir and Solang Valley in Manali.

Manali is a small town situated in Himachal Pradesh in India, surrounded by Hills.

Mall Road is one of the attraction to visit. You can get many items to buy from there, it is a central market for all your needs as due to higly terrain you won’t be able to find much at other places. Food is expensive here than other regions. So be cautious and check the rate list before ordering anything. There are pick pocketers also present as this area attracts crowd very much.

You can visit Buddha Monestary which is situated at a walking distance near the Mall Road and a little forest area with slides for children and adults to enjoy. Entry tickets for the Park is ₹50. Hadimba Devi Mandir is around 2 Km from Mall Road, there you can get on a Yak for ₹30 and click some pictures holding it’s horn and in different poses, big fluffy rabbits are also present you can hold them in hands for some photos for ₹20.

Other temples are in way of Solang Valley, beware of some scams in area like people offering you some attractions like rides they tend to charge more, drivers do have a partnership with them for commission they will stop at their designated stops for commissions. There is cloth and shoes shop where you rent out for ₹250 if you get it way before reaching Solang Valley. As you reach higher up you can get same thing for ₹100 sometime they are of much better quality. We negotiated and got 4 rides for ₹600, we were a group of 16 students so we were able to get the deal after much negotiations from ₹1000 to ₹700 and finally to ₹600. There is ticket counter also which we didn’t checked out for prices. You can check it if you visit. Do not get over excited by seeing everything and persuasion of agents offering services. You have gone there to enjoy so have a good time. Our 4 rides included a Tube, ATV, Zip Lining and Skiing.

Tube and Zip Lining were the best ones which we got there. I will get ATV 3 stars and it was short 5 minutes ride and Skiing was just for photographs and for some quick 4-5 laps of 15-20m (amateur).

Hope you can take points from my post and plan your trip accordingly to enjoy it to the most. They are elements like scams and pick pocketing at every tourists destination so don’t let them ruin your experience. Stay Alert. Stay Safe.

Can you tell us a bit more about Vashista and Solang Valley? From the photos they look very prety places to visit. Did you go for a hiking in the mountains? What did you like the best?

I haven’t share pictures of Vashista Temple here. It is an historic temple near Beas river in Manali. It is believed to be more than 4000 years old and named on a saint Vashista who tried to kill himself in river knowing Vishwamitra killed his children, the river refused to kill him.

He used to mediate their and afterwards a temple was constructed there.

Solang Valley is a popular tourist destination in Manali offering different attractions like Skiing, Paragliding, Zip Lining and other snow related activities. You can use a cable car to go up on mountains and take goods photos with amazing backgrounds.

Economy of the valley depends mainly on tourists.

Picture of temple shared in post is situated in Mall Road, Manali and Vashista Temple is situated at around 5-6 Km from there near Vashista Village (It got it’s name from the temple). They are all in own town, Manali. They can be easily covered in a day trip

I did not understand this, however:

Why do you have to rent cloth and shoes?

Those are made up of synthetic material one piece suit which protects you from getting wet when you fall on ice or lay yourself in ice to enjoy. Those are rubber boats not much effective. It gets really cold when you walk on ice in normal shoes. If you have winter boots which can be used on ice you can wear it that. Socks needs to be good quality and thick otherwise you will feel cold and may get sick.
