Mamava Pod

Hello Local Guides:

In celebrating “International Women’s Day”, and inspired by @Globe_trotter_Ish’s post: https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t/lets-empower-women-owned-businesses-on-google-maps challenge, also the March challenge by @FalguniP and @zac555: https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t/impactful-map-challenge-march-women-friendly-places

Here is to another woman-owned business: Mamava Pod [mamava.com].

Born in Burlington. Made in Vermont. In 2013, Sascha Mayer [@saschamayermama] and Christine Dodson [@christine.dodson] created the Mamava Pod with the design to easily facilitate breastfeeding parents to pump or nurse in a clean and private place while travelling or in work place and not to make it a barrier for women’s careers.

No key needed, accessible with the Mamava App. It is rentable with 2 weeks minimum rental. Come with a coat hook, fan for fresh air, adjustable lighting, shelves, built-in seating, a mirror, and outlets for breast pump, and white noise. Meet all workplace and public-space lactation law requirements.

Three different sizes: (photo below is the XL type)

XL - roughly 9x6x8 ft, spacious (dual setting occupancy), extra room for stroller and other family members :family_man_woman_girl_boy:, 60” turn around wheelchair :wheelchair_symbol: friendly, grab bar (ADA standards)

FLEX - roughly 7x4x8 ft

SOLO - roughly 4x4x8 ft

Being a mother with an infant is essential, especially in places where mothers can fulfill their responsibilities, such as finding safe breastfeeding or pumping places.

Mamava is a company that provides a safe, clean, and private place to breastfeed or pump in public places, offices, or workplaces. It is commonly found in airports or other public places. The pod design uses the smartphone app. Once you download the app, it can be used wherever the pod is available.

Let’s celebrate International Women’s Day by adding places like this to Google Maps.

Tagging a wonderful Lady, @doc_dells, there is always a way to learn something new by making a post in Local Guides Connect. Dig deep and learn something new!

My future project is finding more Mamava locations in the State of Michigan and adding them to Google Maps and the Mamava website, whichever Mums outhere search with.

Inspired by @Julie_A’s post, here is my list (so far just one, it will be more, I promise  ). Tagging @TsekoV as well

  1. Lacation Pod, 477 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48226 (basement)

Thank you @Erna_LaBeau for sharing this place. I haven’t seen this kind of facility in Poland yet. At least we’ve got similar places at shopping malls. :slightly_smiling_face:
