We visited Mallorca, Spain in summer of 2022 with family, will share my experience through these series of posts. We flew from San Francisco to Barcelona. Then we flew from Barcelona to Palma, Mallorca. I had very little knowledge about the Mallorca, since most of the travel plans and arrangements was done by one of my cousins. However this turned out be one of the best family vacations we had. Even though we visited in peak summer with temperatures soaring between 90-100, we had a great time in the beaches of Mallorca. of course we thoroughly enjoyed the food and Sangrias.

On our first day we visited Cala Mondrago beach. Here is the route from the place where we stayed on Mallorca to Cala Mondrago.

Cala Madrago is a small beach located on the southern coast of the island of Mallorca, Spain. It is is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and is only accessible by foot or by boat.

There is a small car park nearby where visitors can leave their cars. The beach is also popular with divers, as there are several diving spots in the area with a variety of marine life. Overall, Cala Madrago is known for its crystal-clear water, beautiful scenery, and secluded atmosphere. There is a restaurant and restrooms right on the beach.

On our way we stopped for lunch on the way at a small town called Santanyi, Restaurants name was Sa Botiga Satanyi. In fact they also had some Indian food on the menu, We had relaxed lunch with few Sangrias.

Here is a collage of food pictures from Sa Botiga restaurant.

Once we reached Cala Mondrago, we had to park our cars in a near by parking lot and walk to the beach.

Here is a shot of the beach, which is surrounded by cliffs.

Shot of the beach from one of the cliffs. Water was very calm and was almost like a swimming pool.

Here is a shot of my family and cousins who joined us on this trip to Spain.

Here is a shot of visitor doing cliff jumping!

From here we took a small hike to visit a near by beach called Calo des Borgit.

Here is a shot captured during the hike.

Another shot on the way to Calo des Borgit.

View of Calo des Borgit, water was shallow and it was great place for swimming.

Shot of folks enjoying the beach.

Here is the Google Maps view of the location, just to give an idea of the terrain and the beach.

On the way back we stopped at a Restaurant called Moli de Vent for dinner. Enjoyed some Spanish food and of course more Sangrias!

This island looks incredible, @jayasimha78 . Beaches look a lot different than the ones in the Bay Area, yeah? I wouldn’t have thought you’d be facing temperatures like that, though.

@JustJake You are absolutely right, bay area beaches are too cold through out the year, we can hardly enjoy the water unless you are a surfer with wet suite. Europe in general was pretty hot last summer.

Gorgeous photos @jayasimha78

I’m in love with the beach and the bay… I would not have wanted to leave! Moli de Vent looks like my kind of restaurant, as well. I’ll bet they have delicious paella. I also support having a few sangrias on a warm sunny beach day - cheers, my friend :wine_glass:

@ravindus Thank You! I am pretty sure you will find lot of diving opportunity and under water mapping.

Hello @jayasimha78 ,

The island is really beautiful. I’ve never been here while living in Italy. I think in July and August it should be very crowded. Anyway I want to put it in my list as countries I want to visit.
Beautiful photos and thanks for sharing the post.
