I visited this amazing city, Jayapura, the capital city of Papua Province, way back in 2012.
Undoubtedly, I fell in love instantly.
It’s just drop dead beautiful.
By the time the plane is about to land, you will witness the wonderful landscape of Sentani Lake and its surrounding.
As you drive along the way heading downtown, you will see more of its plush greeneries.
Thanks to @andarikson_p , our dearest Local Guide from Papua, I dug up my external hard drive and found many picture of amazing Jayapura.
Since this is the eastern most part of Indonesia, the direct flight from Jakarta to Jayapura will take around 5 and a half hours. With transit, it varies from 6.5 hours to 11 hours flight. I had the experience of using direct flights with Garuda Indonesia, as well as the one transiting in Makassar or Denpasar. We really need to check whether they still have similar arrangement during this pandemic.
Papua has long been known as a precious part of Indonesia. Its natural beauty, colourful cultures and friendly people are priceless indeed.
I was lucky that I managed to visit this peace of heaven on earth in the middle of 2019.
I took the photo of the bay from Jayapura City Hill. Driving up the hill to see this stunning view, I took the liberty to enjoy the majestic blue sky Jayapura has. There are obviously so many wonderful spots you can enjoy in Jayapura, including Bukit Jokowi, Sentani Lake, McArthur Monument, Danau CInta or Love Lake and many more. I have visited some of them and will be more than happy to share.
Since the last time I came here it was only for 3 short days as part of of my work, I know I will be back here and explore more.
Papua, you have stolen my heart.
Sa cinta ko.
