Every old-timer of Bombay is bound to know of this authentic Maharashtrian joint! They’ve been serving for a while and happens to attract people from across the city. This place reeks of the old Bombay charm! In spite of the rise of fancy cafes in the city, the place has continued to keep their old rustic look.
A friend of ours who’s grown up eating here took us and knew exactly what to order!
We ordered:
- Sabudana wada: If you’ve got Maharashtrian friends, you’ve probably seen them carrying this in their dabbas. So we had to order it and was very very satisfying to the stomach! It was crispy and tasted great with the chutney
- Batata Wada: Well I’m not a big fan of this but their preparation was great and I enjoyed it’s spicy and hot flavour!
- Mattha Misal: I’d never tasted this dish before until at Prakash! It was basically Misal served with a generous helping of curd over it. The combination was great.
- Kharwas: It was so soft that it just melted in my mouth. It had a great consistency to it and wasn’t overly sweet either!
- Piyush: This was an explosion of sweetness! It was a liquid form of shrikhand and was sweeter than the sweetest lassi you’ve ever had! I personally loved it but I’m sure people who don’t have a sweet tooth won’t enjoy it as much.
- Solkadhi: No Maharashtrian meal could ever be complete without Solkadhi! It was just the perfect end to our major hogging session. It definitely helped digest all the food we had!
Everything was served hot giving it a very homely touch! Every dish was priced just as low as it would’ve probably been served a decade ago!
I’d highly highly recommend visiting this place if you haven’t already!
