Love Locks the EU together

In the European Union (EU) we have just had elections in 28 countries in which the total turnout was over 50% for the first time in 20 years.

This is a list of the EU 28 and their capitals, and I was looking for an unusual place in each capital so I tried to find a Love Locks Bridge in each capital. I was wrong about this being unusual! There are Love Locks everywhere!

Austria, Vienna
Belgium, Brussels

Bulgaria, Sofia this heart in a park in Dimitrovograd is my favourite.
Croatia, Zagreb (in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art)

Republic of Cyprus, Nicosia - Ayia Napa
Czech Republic, Prague
Denmark, Copenhagen
Estonia, Tallinn - there is a heart for locks as it is written about but I could not find it
Finland, Helsinki
France, Paris - the original?
Germany, Berlin
Greece, Athens - as somebody wrote, there are no rivers in Athens so no bridges
Hungary, Budapest, Szechenyi Chain Bridge
Ireland, Dublin, Ha’penny Bridge
Italy, Rome, Ponte Milvio Bridge
Latvia, Riga
Lithuania, Vilnius
Luxembourg, Chemin de la Corniche - this place is written about but I could not see it on Google Maps
Malta, Valetta ?
Netherlands, Amsterdam
Poland, Warsaw, Krakow
Portugal, Lisbon, Santa Justa Lift
Romania, Bucharest, Elizabeta Bridge railing on Somes River
Slovakia, Bratislava, on the railings under the clock
Slovenia, Ljubljana, Butchers’ Bridge
Spain, Madrid
Sweden Stockholm, Vasterbron
and Birmingham in the UK

Is this where it all started?
Is there a Love Locks Bridge in your city or even a list of bridges in your country?

@Dave26 Love Locks are ugly and destroying historic bridges and other structures because of the weight. Most European cities are now removing them and they are getting a lot of support from local people to remove them.

Hi @Dave26 ,

Did you ever visit Lovers Bridge in Sofia? Here, you will see exhibition of photography throughout the year, which is always quite interesting. I like your other photos around Europe, but I do agree a bit with @TheEagleEye that it’s a bit destroying bridges, so I myself don’t support it, although it does make a cute photo.

@DanniS

I also have to agree with @TheEagleEye . So maybe there should be a Clear-Up-Love-Locks day six months or so after St Valentines Day on February 14th. My favourite is the one in Dimitrovgrad Bulgaria. In a park they have put in a heart specially to attract the Love Locks. Perhaps they clear it once a year?
