Location: Mahaganapati Temple, Ranjangaon

Ranjangaon ganpati is one of the Athavinayk Ganpati. Crowded on sankashti chaturthi.Temple is very well maintained, temple also serves MahaPrasad to everyone.

The story behind the temple

Ranjangaon Ganpati is one among the Ashtavinayak, celebrating eight instances of legends related to Ganesha. This temple’s Ganpati idol was inaugurated and donated by the “Khollam” family, a goldsmith family based in Ranjangaon. The temple was built between the 9th and 10th century. The main temple looks like it was built in the Peshwa period. Nagarkhana is situated above the entrance gate. The temple facing east has huge and beautiful entrance gate.

It is believed that the place where Lord Shiva invoked Lord Ganesha and defeated Tripurasura is Ranjangaon (the word Ranjan means the delighted one), prior to which it had the name of Manipur…the most powerful representation of Lord Ganesha. In the events or Ganesh Jayati days, lots of small shops here for shopping and the sweet Prashad (Pedha) of Lord Ganesha.

According to records, the temple was built among the 9th & tenth centuries. Temple is so constructed that sun rays fall without delay on Shree Ganesha’s idol.,In Ranjangaon, villagers do not carry the Ganesh idols to their homes, as an alternative, everyone involves the temple for Ganesh pooja, within the month of Bhadrapada.Temple stays open from five:30 inside the morning until 10 at night time.
