tanggal 17 agustus adalah hari kemerdekaan Indonesia, banyak lomba diadakan ditiap daerah, seperti panjat pinang, dimana kira harus memanjat pohon pinang yg diatasnya ada bermacam-macam hadiah yang di ikat di lingkaran atas. dan lomba ini dimainkan ber grup dan saling bekerjasama untuk bisa sampai ke atas.
tentu tidak mudah memanjat ke atas, karena pohonnya dilumasi dengan oli, sehingga licin, banyak cara yang mereka lakukan, contohnya dengan mengambil tanah sekitar biar pohon berkurang licinnya atau dengan baju-baju mereka yang diikat dipohon untuk pegangan mereka saat licin, kadang mereka akan bertumpuk dipundak teman-temannya agar bisa memanjat lebih tinggi lagi.
saat itu juga panitia akan mennyemprot air agar licin lagi pohonnya, nahh inilah ujian tambahan buat mereka karena lebih licin lagi. inilah yang membuat perlombaan lebih seru.
di foto itu adalah penampakan dari akhir lomba yang sudah selesai, tak ada hadiah diatas, artinya mereka PEMENANGNYA, karena sudah berhasil meraih hadiahnya.
