Last month, I visited Lokenath Baba’s ashram in Barodi area of Sonargaon. I enjoyed visiting the religious place of about 170 years old. This Lokenath Brahmachari Ashram and Temple is a religious place for Hindu religious people. This Ashram is located in Barodi Union of Sonargaon Upazila in Narayanagnj District.
Introduction of Baba Lokenath: Baba Lokenath was born on 31 August 1730 AD in West Bengal, India. He became known as a saint and philosopher of the Hindu Religion. During his lifetime, he traveled to different countries including Persia, Arab countries, Israel, etc. He has some famous quotes. On 1st June 1890 AD, this saint took Tirodhan in Barodi area of Sonargaon Upazila, Bangladesh. There is now Lokenath Babar Temple at that place.
Place Description: After passing the big gate in the temple, the prayer room is first seen. Where visitors come to the place to worship or offer prayers. Adjacent to it is two other temples, one of which is the Baba Lokenath Tirodhan Temple and the other is the Sri Sri Durga Temple. Baba Lokenath’s Tirodhan site is currently used as a temple. As you move past the temple, you can see the restroom for visitors to the ashram and the large hostel for an overnight stay. So that about 100 families can spend the night.
Food (Bhog) is given to the visitors at these three times: morning, noon, and night. Huge lines can be observed in front of the canteen all these three times. At the end of the Ashram is Shashan Ghat. The dead are cremated at this Shashan Ghat.
In the center of the large pond is a gigantic sculpture of the Hindu God Dev, which has enhanced the beauty of the pond. Visitors respect this sculpture of Dev.
There are always some sweet shops in the area outside the temple. Visitors buy sweets from there and take them home. There are shops selling pictures of the Hindu God photo album.
How to come to this area:
From Dhaka Gulistan, take a bus to Mograpara Chowrasta. Then take CNG and enter directly at the Lokenath Babar Ashram area. Distance is only 35 km from Dhaka. You can easily reach this ashram from Dhaka.
