Our wonderful Local Guides programme was actually 11 years old on January 15th - so to celebrate, a select bunch of Manchester Local Guides met together - actually on January 15th. Considering it was a working night for many, and a wet and windy Manchester Winter Day, five of us was a good number!
Staunch regulars @Maria68 Anthony, @AdrianLunsong very welcome new member @NWELEKWE and myself @PeteMHW gathered at Browns Classic Bistro in central Manchester and talked Local Guides and toasted Local Guides, and ate and drank (a little) and talked and toasted some more: of the MeetUps we’d done together over the years, of the wet wanders through Heaton Park, and the sunny days doing pottery painting.
We talked of our contributions to Maps and of our travels to places far and wide across Europe for EuroMeetUps.
We talked of friends we’d met around the world through the programme.
The food was excellent and very well presented - well worth a return visit - but the family feel of being together to celebrate Local Guides was the best!
Manchester Local Guides is a part of the much larger Local Guides Community across the world. We meet in person several times a year - and new members are more than welcome to join us.
