Local Guides Clean The Map (#LGCTM)

Just an idea.

Why dont Google designates a Local Editor? a geo-referenced user who can edit locally, within a geographic boundary, based on his-her relevancy in terms of local advise ranking. Who knows your hometown better than yourself? And if there are many people who can chip in, let the general ranking decides who can edit, lets promote healthy competition, for the sake of everyone.

This is one of the few cases in which micromanaging is a good thing. Keep the edits local.

I really would like to keep helping Google Maps, but I still think it´s absurd that Google, a multibillionaire company, doesn´t pay us for this job. I still use Google Maps to help me in my movements around the countries, cities and places I go and I think it´s absurd, for instance, that Maps doesn´t inform us previously about the free markets in the streets of São Paulo, where I live. It´s a very simple thing to do: call the City Hall and ask for this information, but this simply doesn´t happen, because Google doesn´t want to do this and wants that us do this for free for them.

I tried to add a place 3 times with pictures and name of the place is in the pictures but its rejected .

Its a residential complex or private residential area but gor some reason it is rejected .

Why is that ?

I never spam or add wrong place .

If you reject my places why should i help ?

If you have contribution point system whats the point of rejecting an entry .

Already doing this like mad, but my most worrying problem with Google Maps is with subway and urban trains trajects and stations, very wifi/cellular antenna dependent. When those antennas get relocated, it turns a nightmare for tourist and commuters.

I heavily use the report a problem → the blue point is more than 150 meter away from the real location, and I give lots of details and the exact point in the map where I am at that moment (stations mainly), but months pass and that goes uncorrected like nothing was reported. I even suggested that Google does a new scan for stations and ask for collaboration with the infrastructure owner and the cellular companies, like they did in the past to effectively map subterranean passes and stations, but I get silence for response.

Is there any way to explicitly report this or to effectively get the reporting to an actual edit?

Thanks!

Where do local guides report errors?

I’ve reported google maps incorrectly routing people down a privately maintained gravel road several times now and it’s always rejected (with some message like it wasn’t confirmed).

I do it inside the Google Maps app

I must admit that this is the first time learning about the “clean the map” program. It was not all that long ago I was seeing HOSPITAL and MEDICAL FACILITIES at two location near me, including right across the street and down at the end of my street. Then, another such facility popped up on the Google Map for Leesburg, FL. I wasn’t the only one noticing those incorrect listings but it seemed to take the longest time, months, to get the inaccurate information removed. I live in a senior park of 640 manufactured houses so it was obvious there wasn’t a hospital with a separate medical facility here. I thought maybe a Yelper was practicing with listings. Glad to learn about your program and wish you well.

Hello, I hope you are always healthy and well. I finally noticed that the inclusion of a new place on the map in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has become unacceptable and is not compatible as a guide from level 6. I tried to add a new carpentry activity, but it says it is not accepted. I tried to report some commercial activities that have been discontinued for a long time, but they still appear on Google

Thank you for this new campaign.

I have sent quote a few emails asking maps to correct my street name but it will not be corrected. When you view it on Google Earth or similar programs the correct street name is there but not on maps. This makes it difficult to place food or online orders. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Google can’t pay everyone for reviews and error eports but if they see someone taking much of free time clean the map der should be at least supervisor icon contact as in my area many fakers around with several profiles which are all connected and like them each other so they can spam location with several accounts supervised by one person.

Der Asam Hackers to hoken for exemple change the upload date from the picture to the past or something else

Google should do something against that and support local guides which are fight against this spammers

I have stopped editing because of a lot incorrect declines.

Even you were there and have attached a photo of closed business, Google Maps can have different opinion.

Don’t want to waste my trust level before this crap will be fixed.

Definitely NOT a duplicate, LOL

So I propose to do nothing before they do something with our edits evaluation.

Right now it’s just wasted time.
