Local Guides - adding businesses - it's nice to see it working

A small independent coffee shop recently moved into a local bar to extend how the space could be utilised, coffee by day, bar by night.

But they weren’t on Maps, obviously that had to be addressed so people knew they existed.

So I visited, grabbed photos, tried their stuff, gathered info then went home and added them.

Once live I then messaged the owners about claiming the entry and offering them help if needed.

Now a month or so on business is good and the positive 5* reviews are coming in, it’s genuinely heartwarming to see them grow because they’re so passionate about what they do.

Then tonight this popped up on Instagram and they thanked me with a perfect example of the power of what we do…

YouTube Short of their Instagram story

This is in a small town, someone travelling from a town some distance away wanted a nice coffee before going to a nearby shopping centre and the power of Google diverted them to support a great local business.

We don’t always see the other side of what we do but everything we do can make a difference.

C’est très intéressant ça. De petites actions qui ont de gros impacts pour nous et pour la communauté. Voici le genre d’impact et les vrais avantages d’un programme comme celui des Guides Locaux. Merci à toi de partager ça avec nous!

Good work, @turbotapeworm. I’ve added a few places over the years, but I never thought of contacting them afterwards about claiming the entry. Excellent initiative.
