Local Guides - A dream to help others look for the best experience anywhere

When I discovered Google Maps a few years ago, I started to see a new world - it was (and still is) possible to look up a lot of information that we didn’t have before!

My story with Google Maps begins in 2014, when I went to Rio de Janeiro for the first time and I needed to use the maps to move around the city (I didn’t have any information about moving from a place to another in Rio). After this excellent experience, I started my passion for the best map app of the entire world, but I didn’t know yet the best part of the Google Maps - the local guides section. When I was planning my first international trip (Orlando/USA), I started to see very interesting photos that were uploaded by Google users - this photos helped me a lot, I was very thankful about all the information that I gathered.

So, after this first international trip, I decided to post some photos (via Local Guides) to help others (like they helped me) to see some details and tips about this specific trip. And, when I started to see the magic of people seeing, exploring and thanking all information that I posted, I realized that I need to do more for the community, so, I posted a lot of photos of important places that I have been before. Also, I decided to add comments and ratings of the places that I have been to try to help others about pros, cons and miscellaneous tips about every place that I have been.

Today, March 11, 2020, I have almost 425.000 views on my photos posted on Local Guides, more than a 100.000 views on the ratings and I’m very proud of all contribution that I gave to improve Google Maps and I believe that developing these kind of community solutions are amazing to gather public (and free) information for everyone. So, to conclude this topic, I think that Google Local Guides are a dream of public information about places that became true and walking right to the perfection!

PS: The Local Guides Stamps are amazing!!! I’m trying to collect them all! S2
