How it all began.
When my phone first asked me to add photos to Google Maps, I didn’t even think of becoming a guide. ?
Then, question by question, answer by review, I got involved …
I remember how at first I was afraid to write reviews or evaluate places where I was. I thought, well, why would anyone need my feedback or ratings. The more I think, the more I understand how everything works.
Google Maps became for me an irreplaceable tool in the search for answers to such questions: where to have dinner? (for lunch, breakfast), where to go on a weekend ?, which hotel to choose during a business trip? etc.
After about a month of participating in the program of Local Guides, I began to understand how important it is to leave a detailed review and take not just a photo of the place I visited, but a high-quality photo.
People form their attitude to a place still at home, sitting on a sofa with a mobile phone in their hands or a notebook on their lap. Can I let them down? Of course not! I am a Local Guide! I simply must take a representative photo of the place I’ve already visited or the dishes I’ve already tried.
Now google maps is part of my life. There are many friends in it, the same local guides with whom you can consult about something, find out something new from them, tell them important information about working on Google maps.
Recently, a seminar on working with Google Maps was held in the Community of Local Guides of Ukraine, and I honestly got a lot of important information on working with such applications as Google Class, My Maps, My Business. Thanks to the Googlers for this! ?
Photos and videos are another story altogether.
Previously, everything was simple - I took a photo of myself against the background of relatives and that’s it, but now it’s not so. Now I take a photo of the exotic nature surrounding or the theme of a cozy restaurant, but without people :)) in principle, without people ?
Many people may never physically get to the place where I am now. Due to disability, citizenship, monetary opportunities, faith. But I’m already here! I was more fortunate. And I’ll definitely shoot a great video for all google maps users! And it’s even more efficient to create a 3D panorama for virtual reality, if you have the appropriate equipment. Little story
In the summer of 2019, my family went on vacation to Greece. This is an indescribable country! But the most interesting is located at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level. My children could not climb the steep slopes, so I went there myself and brought excellent photos and videos.
The Greeks collect resin spruce for cosmetic purposes, for me it was a revelation.
In mountainous places there are churches in which there are no people but they are absolutely open and you can go in there and see everything.
But the most amazing thing is the view from the mountain to the border of the land of the sea and the sky…
The community of local guides has changed my life! ?
