You’re right @deshpandevilas that the main reward is helping other people with your reviews, edits and photos in the same way that you are helped by the same from other people. Being a Local Guide is an altruistic
undertaking. Of course it strengthens the data held by Google and makes Maps a better product but that is still an advantage for the people who use the product.
There are perks from time to time such as travel discounts, socks and stickers and of course the big one Connect Live.
Make sure that in your Local Guides notifications that you have emails turned on visit https://maps.google.com/localguides/home/settings and tick the “Perks box”

I am prepared to Buy a T-Shirt if offered for a price. Well, it will solve many problems of suspicion while taking photographs of even the exterior of some Hotels or Restaurants, Government or Corporate Offices etc.
We become answerable to the sweepers and looked down upon by them even if we programmed to take photos well before the opening of the buildings - say in any city or town from 6 am to 8 am the time I go around for a walk and take photographs before breakfast when the traffic will be the lowest and the sun will not be so hot.
The T-shirt with Google Logo or an ID will come to our rescue from unpleasant situation.
(The concept of ID appear to have been closed)
