Before I had the time for traveling, I read a lot blogs of people, @FlameFox , because it helped me to travel in my mind.
I am not sure how to answer your question. While I know tourism impacts positively Mexico, I do not know if from an ecological perspective. I know, however, that mexicans are very good at keeping their past intact and preserving their roots, and their pre columbian buildings. Does anyone have comments about this?

Tourism does come with a lot of benefits to both economy and country. You’re absolutely right about that. On the other hand, many entrepreneurs miss the eco impact in obvious amounts (here’s the personal experience talking, I guess). It’s could be considered more like a personal observation whether you see more hotels, complexes, less natural views. Or may be more plastic bags, odds and ends around. Have you seen such locations yourself?
Me gusto mucho leer tu post @kamerow , lamento que la primera parte del viaje hayas tenido esos inconvenientes de cosas poco claras, pero por suerte por lo que leí las cosas mejoraron y tuviste un viaje muy lindo, en algún momento viaje a México también y estuve por el DF y luego el recorrido de las ruinas mayas, tengo que regresar, al leer tu post me da muchas granas de planificarlo nuevamente, gracias por compartir.

Yo cuando no encuentro la habitación que me gusta en el Fiesta Americana, me voy al RIU que esta al lado. Y oye, que este último es de la casa.
Trata de coger en los RIU, yo al menos nunca experimenté cualquier tipo de inconveniente con ellos.
Me han encantado tus fotos. Ha sido estupendo que hayas podido disfrutar del viaje a pesar del mal rato.
