(This is my first post so hope I am doing it right).
I decided to visit the castle ruins; they were built as a replica of the famous Liverpool castle in Liverpool. These ruins in Rivington, Bolton were built in 1912, so they are quite modern compared to the middle age castles around the country.
The main plus of this castle is that it is free to visit, and parking is also free, making it a cheap day out. Worth a visit if you are in the area. I wish I could have spent more time there, but it was quite busy and the rain was on and off. I did manage to get a short video of the ruins with my GoPro camera.
