Listen to the sound of the wind - Oberstdorf, Germany

During my German Alps trip in October 2019, I visited Oberstdorf and spent 2 days and a half to explore around. The landlord gave me a free pass for public transportation and mountain railways in the area. So I used it to explore the German Alps and the beautiful nature.

Now I would like to introduce you to the beautiful destinations in Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal. Let us listen to the sound of the wind together.

  1. Heuberg

Going to the mountain station, the Heubergbahn will serve you. The views up there are fantastic. There are some trails the hikers and mountain bikers can enjoy. For the bike, you can take it on the Heubergbahn for free.

  1. Nebelhorn

The Nebelhornbahn lower station is located in the center of Oberstdorf. At the summit station, you can enjoy the delicious meal with the fascinating 400-peak view that is like the icing on the cake.

  1. Fellhorn

The Fellhornbahn will take you to the top. The highlight of the Fellhorn is a cross-border between Germany and Austria hiking experience. Do not miss it if you visit the Fellhorn.

  1. Kanzelwand

I would suggest to hike from the summit station of Fellhornbahn in Germany to the mountain station of Kanzelwandbahn in Austria. Then take the Kanzelwandbahn to the lower station. This will be an amazing cross-border hiking experience.

5. Söllereck

The Söllereckbahn will take you up there, the mountain of families. There are lots of activities for everyone in the family such as the Allgäu-Coaster, the Söllereck climbing forest and the wonderful hiking trails. These activities will make it an eventful day for you and your family.

  1. Walmendingerhorn

With the Walmendingerhornbahn, it is just a piece of cake to get to the top of this mountain. On the summit, you will experience a breathtaking panoramic view, hiking trails and culinary delights all year round.

  1. Ifen

It is too bad that I did not ride the Ifenbahn as it was not operated when I was there. I think it is a good reason for me to come back here someday. Anyhow I did some hiking to explore the area around.

  1. Breitachklamm

This is a unique nature experience in Oberstdorf. Along the hiking trail through the Breitachklamm, you will enjoy flowing water, sun rays, nice rocks, light and dark, uphill and downhill. If you would like to see the beautiful autumn colors, visit it during mid to late October.

I hope you can hear the sound of the wind together with me in this post. Where would you like to go for a getaway?

#monthlytopic by @HiroyukiTakisawa : The stations in this post are cable car station. Hope this post will do for the topic of February 2020.

@HiroyukiTakisawa Thank you so much for letting me join the topic of this month. First, I thought about train station or bus station. But I thought that I rode cable cars a lot when I was in Oberstdorf, so I decided to write about cable car stations. I’m glad you like the photos. I like them too. Thank you again for the creativity of yours about #monthlytopic. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Ant_Bad_Yogi ,

I am always impressed when I see on photos the Alps at all - in Germany or in Austria, everywhere they are just incredible! I’ve never been there but it’s definitely in my wish list for the future!

I am impressed by the photos that you could capture there. If I should answer your question where I would like to go for a getaway, I wоuld answer definitely - in the Alps.

Thanks for sharing those amazing places with us! Keep such wonderful posts! :slightly_smiling_face:

@Nyainurjanah wkwkwk, your last question, wkwkwk

  1. I stayed in Fischen (near Oberstdorf) for 3 days, I think it’s not enough. If I can turn back time, I will stay there forever, wkwkwk. Total is 10 days for this trip, 2 days in Fussen, 3 days in Oberstdorf, 5 days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It’s not enough, I would love to visit them again.
  2. I took a train to travel between the towns. In the town itself, I rode a bus. If you stay in Fussen, you will get a free transportation card. If you stay in Oberstdorf (and Fischen), you can take cable cars for free. And you can get a discount for transportation. If you stay in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, you get free card for transportation. Is it nice?
  3. wkwkwk, yes, I have taken selfie but with a friend. We stayed together in Fussen, the rest we went to different towns because I have been to Germany many times but this is the first time for my friend. The town she wanted to visit, I have already been there. That’s why. But let me tell you again, I’m a shy person and I think you know what I will say if you ask me to show you my selfie photo. wkwkwk

Please let me know if you have more questions, I would love to provide the answers.
