Lily-of-the-Valley.

There are a number of beautiful plants and flowers that are native to Russia.One of the prettiest is lily -of-the-valley.

You can find this beautiful flower in the wood,valley,shaded garden.The plants often grow close together to make large dense patches.

Now it is time when lily-of-the-valley in blossom.It has two broad leaves at the base of the plant.It has fragrant little white ,bell shaped flowers on a leafless stalk that hang downwards.

In autumn ,it produces shiny red berries.But they are poisonous.The lily -of -the -valley is wildflower and a herb and is used in herbal medicine.The stem with flowers is the most active part.

It is collected and dried and used as a remedy for a number of different conditions relating to the heart and kidneys.It is also well known as painkiller.

People also used to decorate home or give this flowers as gift.

Today,this amazing flower is gradually disappearing from the wild ,so it is listed in the Red book.

These days people really care about this chaming symbol of the Russian woods and are happy to admire its natural beauty.

This flower we often meet in Russian forests.Woman and girls love this flower very much for its delicate aroma.

Hi @helga19 ,

Nice post and lovely flower. We also have some in France and my parents have some in their garden. We have a tradition and we offer some on the 1st of may. it is a symbol of happiness and good luck.

I think ,that it comes from Russia.

This flowers come from Russia,The birthplace of their growth is my country.Lily of the valley grow wherever there is suitable soil and shady place.

It is nice that that bouth countries has the same tradition.

Now we care of this flowers ,because they are in Red book.,as rare plant.

They’re very lovely and photogenic!

I heard they’re in a Red Book now but as I saw on our dacha and in nearby forest they’re very hard to kill. If one appears somewhere, they cover all the meadow. Maybe they can be different and only one kind is rare. Hope they will survive.

Their blossom always means soon summer for me.

This lovely and beautiful flowers ,which in Red book are everywhere.But the people collect them in large quantities.

Convallaria majalis is the symbol of the spring. It grows in my homecountry, Slovakia, as well. We have the same habitat as you in Russia. Amazing plant.

@helga19 I dont give money to them, but I give my time as volunteer, so I can check under my own eyes that the work is well done. I do litter picks in my community and near beaches. Time ago I was supporting a charity to help Amazonian dolphins, till was found the director of the charity was using the money for himself. So, from then I just donate my free time.
