Thanks for sharing some spring beauty. This is my favorite tree of the season. A popular name is the Tulip tree in Danish.
I was wondering if this copy of your photo depicts better the view you saw:
I used Google Photos to make it brighter and give it some more warmth and I used the filter called Dynamic which is available to Google One members only.
In my experience cameras are often making colors more faded than they really are. I shared some tips on making photos for Google Maps look better and brighter here.
What do you think?
All the best
Morten
Surely your edited photo looks better, dear @MortenCopenhagen than that of the fellow LG @chintandesai
Enhancing with filters is not depiction of real life that I want to capture here. Yes visually it looks brighter but you lost the essence of the picture as it was dark gloomy day but the flowers made it bright.
Philosophy was my post vs being technical that is your edit.
And in real life there 8s nothing better or worse, it’s our perception
Thanks for your comments, @chintandesai .
This was the kind of discussion I was hoping for.
For sure the it is very subjective and perception dependent.
When I edit my photos I strive to accurately reflect the mood and colors as I saw them. While also keeping in mind that the engineers who installed the camera software on the phone/camera made decitions that hugely influence the look of our photos.
As for photos shared on Google Maps we should also think of the users. What style will help them understand and visualize the place better? Darker images shown on a tiny screen may not represent the place as well as a well lit image.
All the best
Morten
Again just because there are filters one should not use them to falsify information.
There is always an audience for art
Hello, fellow LG @chintandesai ,
“… And in real life there 8s nothing better or worse, it’s our perception…”
I do agree with your comment.
But,I suggest you to view the link our respected @MortenCopenhagen has provided. Not only as a Moderator, but as an extremely valuable contributor of the community, he has gifted a lot of help to Thousands of LGs here.
He has done extensive research and helped many performers in Google Maps and LG Connect.
He has done the edit to help you to understand how this edited photo will have more benefits in Google Maps - kindly spare a few minutes to go through his post.
Best wishes
Please help me understand how were you able to understand the mood and general environment. Did you check the weather in Toronto? We’re you able to perceive the overcast skies under which this photo was clicked?
I get both your points but again your depiction or edit of the photo is false…and I reservey right to MY photo…
I would like you to detail it out so I understand if I want to post here again.
My intentions was solely to initiate a friendly discussion about processing images in general so they are as helpful as possible to Maps users. Clearly you don’t see this as a relevant agenda and that is perfectly okay.
I have delete the lighter and slightly more colorful version of your image. Feel free to post images and stories as you please.
My intentions were in no way to upset you.
All the best
Morten
Moderator Morten has explained the details & hence, I don’t need to detail of again, LG @chintandesai .
TAGGING:
If you don’t TAG, the other LG won’t get any “Notification” that you have responded to.
How to TAG: Simply by typing the symbol @ before the User Name of an LG (as I have done above, to you), you can send a notification (TAG) to the other member. Ex: if you need to TAG me, then type @ followed by TravellerG - then I will get a notification - for more details, click 'Here’.
Best regards
