Lido Marini. Italy. Return to the past: from Salento notes of an inner journey

Lido Marini: A pearl in Salento!

Dedicated to all sea lovers and to those who will love it

The most interesting thing I did as local guides? I love telling about food and photographing the dishes, the challenge that I remember best magnificent Italian restaurant in Berlin but also gourmet dishes in the hills near Turin, but probably the most interesting thing was to be able to tell of a place that I had seen a thousand times and want to tell whole world with photos and words.
I think that when in addition to the tool you are driven by a strong passion, it is the same passion that will allow you to guide others.

I choose to tell about a place that I put on the list of my special places, because the love that binds me to this land is special, for my family ties and so i returning every year and every summer in Lido Marini since I was born.

The photos of this beautiful country in Salento are dedicated to all sea lovers. I would like to convey the emotion of being there to everyone who will read this post. A unique place that in its simplicity takes us back in time, between the dry stone walls and the dirt roads.

Salento, Puglia - South Italy

It is one of the most beautiful places in Salento in Puglia, a little small town inhabited only in summer and has a variety of coast between sandy beach, small beaches and a cliff suitable for everyone where you can make wonderful dives in the cold water springs. A place where everything is slower and the rhythm of life is marked by the sun, ideal for both families, young and children.

How to reach it? By owner car or by train and bus

To get there I suggest in summer to use the Salento by Bus from Lecce station. Trains end at Lecce station and then continue with local railway lines that allow you to get to the nearby Presicce where you have to take the bus.

Breakfast

In the morning there is a state of peace of mind with a walk and a coffee at the historic Bar Marini or in Martinucci confectionery, with pasticciotto. Before going shopping in small local groceries and greengrocers.

Beach

The people are all as friendly as in the classic spirit of the people of southern Italy. The sea is wonderful but the full beaches in August are most appreciable in July or September when many tourists leave. I recommend moving on foot or by bicycle, there is also the possibility of renting it in the country.

At the evening

In the evening after a nice rustico, calzone or other local specialties such as the pittule that I recommend to eat in Martinucci or in the local pizzerias and chalets that offer good fish dinners, it is very beautiful and fascinating go to the center of Gallipoli or Otranto.

Salento coast to coast

I recommend taking the car and traveling on the coast to visit Santa Maria di Leuca, Otranto and Gallipoli, perhaps enjoying a good pasticciotto, a local dessert filled with cream. Among the restaurants in the surroundings I recommend the Trattoria Iolanda in Lucugnano a village a few km away.

Boat trips on the whole coast from Gallipoli to Otranto

Sunset

The view from the cliff allows you to admire wonderful sunsets and to be enchanted in front of the beauty of nature, between the sea and the land, where you can rediscover yourself and where with little you have a lot and it is your everything.

No problem @ChiaraPoli
