I am a Level 10 Local Guide since 2020 and I need help with my account.
As of today, every single edit I make is being instantly “Not Applied” or “Denied.” This is happening even for high-quality edits that were always accepted before, like adding the official Burmese name to businesses.
I believe my account may have been incorrectly flagged by an automated system. Or I don’t know whether all other LGs are facing the same problem.
Could a Google Moderator or Product Expert please investigate my account?
I can confirm that my approval rate of perfectly legit edits has gone down dramatically over the past month or maybe a bit longer. Fluctuations in approval rates come and go, but this dip seems extreme. So much so that I have pretty much stopped making edits. I only make a few to detect when the spam filter is ordered to relax again.
As our edits are not publicly visible under our profiles product experts and Connect moderators cannot check your profile in this regard. And I have not seen Googlers do this.
Thank you so much for raising the issue, @waiyanhtet
I can confirm it! I just made a short test by fixing the name of 10 businesses and the pin of another one, that I personally visited yesterday.
All of them were rejected with the very same motivation: Posting restrictions for the place.
So I moved randomly of a few hundred Kilometers and I edited one more place, with exactly the same result: Unfortunately, we’re not able to publish this content at this time and the following explanation: Thank you for your contribution. Unfortunately, we’re not able to publish this edit at this time.
What happened In this case, there wasn’t necessarily an issue with your content. Your content couldn’t be published because of posting restrictions that Google has for this place. When this happens, some types of posting are restricted. These restrictions help keep Maps safe and reliable for everyone. What you can do No action is needed from you. Contributing this type of content may be turned back on later.
First thing I did was to check if there was any restriction on my account: https://myaccount.google.com/restrictions
Of course I don’t have any restriction.
So I am tagging @TsekoV for escalating the issue to the relevant team, even if I think it will be fixed in any case soon.
@ErmesT@MortenCopenhagen Not on my side. It also depends on the geography, I’m in France. What makes you think that it seems to be fixed ?
Clarification. I am very well familiar with Google’s guidelines and there can be hundreds of reasons why the algo does not accept an edit or leaves it months in ‘pending’. I normally do not check whether my edit was accepted or not, but lately I did so and I noticed that a high number were not approved and Google gives multiple reasons. The algos are very complex and it’s almost impossible to know the reason for each specific edit. And even if an edit has been accepted, the owner of a profile (or anyone else) can edit it again. But Google knows this.
Please let us know if you still get the “Unfortunately, we are not able to publish this content at this time” or some other message in your edit contribution list. If so kindly share a screenshot with the details (dropdown) open.
@mortem. I’ll give you 2 shots with the information. I made the edit 2 days ago. I know the store and he constantly adds keywords in his name which is a violation. Often, the edit is accepted, but the administrator of this profile must modify it again and again. In theory, in this case, Google could see frequent changes on the profile and therefore decide to not apply my edit, cf. (temporary) ‘posting restrictions’ for this place.
I’ve had another one accepted an hour ago that I edited an hour ago, but that doesn’t mean anything about the reason because it’s another profile and another edit. As said before, there can be hundreds of reasons. It can be on the account side or on Google’s side.
Nobody that I know has the time to fill in those forms. Those are the forms that I, being a Maps product expert, give to people on the Help forum for individual cases. Even if Google would accept my edit for 1 single profile after filling out a form (automatically or after a manual review by a person), the edit can be reversed in a second. I know they are thinking of other solutions, but unfortunately I’m not in a position to share them on this forum (NDA).
The forms may be useful for other users on the Connect forum. Personally I don’t like the layout of this forum, but it would be a good thing if users here could access them if they were just ‘a click away’.
