Hi everybody. My name is Gustavo Eduardo Mendoza Ramírez. I’m from Cartagena, Colombia, but I have lived in Medellín for the last 5 years. I’m a computer science engineer and as such, I like everything related to technology. I have been using the services, offered by Google, for several years.
I think the one most used Google application in Colombia is Google Maps, which I personally use a lot to consult lot of information such as moving images, photographs of the places, as well as locations, routes (by car, on foot, by public transport or beta for bicycle) and traffic conditions.
The main problem of using Google Maps in Colombia is that lot of the information is not updated or in many cases does not exist. It has happened to me sometimes. I have placed a spot to go but that spot since to be a few blocks away from the indicated on the map. That’s why with my contributions, I would like to try to help mitigate this a bit.
We need to bear in mind that Google displays a wide variety of tools to help us position our businesses, to have traffic information in real time, routes, etc. If we want the correct information, we must help generate such updated information. So that Google gets committed and make the changes necessary to have the correct information for the users. Google needs to work along with the user and all the way around.
My invitation then is for all of us who live or visit Colombia to contribute to have an updated map because it will benefits everybody. Since in addition to having an up-to-date information we have opinions of people who visit the places and this helps us in making decisions to plan things. So my question is, why don’t we start right away?
