How you discovered the Local Guides program and how it has impacted your life.
To explore this amazing world, two eyes are not enough!
I am Sarah, living in Pakistan and 35. I am a Local Guide level 6.
I was never a very social person and I have never participated in such a huge platform like Google. I started discovering the program when I wrote some reviews and my little efforts were appreciated by Google. 2017 was the year when I traveled through Pakistan and after that, I was asked about the places. I realized that I am putting my contribution to the big world.
The Local Guide program has spectacularly impacted my life, I started working and exploring my talents. I love traveling and show the world what I have explored already. This is just so amazing that people started reading my comments, my reviews and viewing my photos. I feel can be a little help for my community.
A few months back, when my mother was diagnosed with dementia stage 6, I had to quit my job and stayed at home with her. I realized there is one channel for which I can work at home too and I started working for Google more. At that devastating moment of my life, there was someone who wanted my services.
The job which I do for Google is remarkable. It has given me recognition. The mails which I get showing me peoples’ responses are always so delightful. It feels like I am an employer of Google with a phone in my hand, observing new places and helping the world. I got many responses from hotel owners, restaurants managers, and shop owners. It shows we need each other.
I couldn’t even imagine myself being an introvert person kind of broadcasting any program for the public. My real motivation is the monthly summary which I receive, every single detail of my traveling and working is in there. I aim to get to the highest level of local guides and enjoy my achievement.
My nephew in Canada is just so excited seeing me participating for Connect 2020. He wishes that may I get selected and come to California.
