A South African delicate dessert (Milk Tart)
Milk Tart is made with simple ingredients such as milk, sugar, flour, cream, dusted with cinnamon. It melts in your mouth, it’s so tasty and comforting.
Milk Tart is one of my favorite dessert from South Africa, my grandmother used to make it for us on special occasions and now I make it for my children especially on those days that I am homesick. Milk Tart is very popular in SA and there are different ways to make it. I honestly do not think I can make it the same way that my granma made it and maybe that is because the ingredients I use here in the US are different than the ones she used back home in SA. The ingredients I use here are what’s available so I have to make it work. What is your favorite childhood dessert and why is it special to you? I think that it is amazing that we all can connect through food and we can also learn a lot about each other and our different cultures through food. Below I share with you the recipe.
