I’m a digital content creator and also a trainer. Most of my work focuses on digital literacy through smartphones for the community.
Last month, I had a chance to train more than 250 commune and sangkat officers.
We talked about media, information, and how to use social media more effectively and responsibly.
Before this session, I always saw one thing: Many people use smartphones every day… but mostly just for Facebook, messaging, or watching content.
Not many people know they can use their phones to contribute to and help their community.
That’s why in this training, I also spent about 30 minutes sharing about Google Maps and Local Guides.
I shared simple ideas:
- Google Maps is not just for navigation
- Everyone can contribute
- You can add missing places in your area
- You can fix the wrong locations
- You can upload photos and real information
For commune officers, this is very important.
Because they know their local area better than anyone.
If they contribute:
- Villages can be easier to find
- Local businesses can be visible
- Public places can have correct information
I also introduced Local Guides Connect, where we can share stories and learn from others around the world.
My question:
Can this kind of training be considered a Local Guides meet-up or activity?
And how can I organize it properly to follow the guidelines?
My goal is simple:
Help people use their smartphones not only to consume, but to contribute.
And step by step, we can improve Google Maps in Cambodia together.
