Kue lampet (sometimes read “lappet” cake), is a traditional Batak snack originating from Tapanuli.
This cake is usually shaped like a pyramid and wrapped in banana leaves, the cook process was not very complicated, start from rice flour, grated coconut that is not too old, and mixed. Following grated palm sugar or brown sugar, and little bit of water. After all the mixture is evenly distributed, then wrapped in banana leaves, then steamed until cooked.
this “Lappet” is a typical snack in Batak Land. Lappet has 2 types, which is distinguished from the basic ingredients, there is rice flour or plain rice flour. It tastes soft, sweet and melted in the mouth with grated coconut mixed with brown sugar.
“Lappet” was usually served at social gathering events, traditional wedding ceremonies, breakfast guests at home. In essence, the “Lappet” was like a compulsory meal that must be present at every gathering of Batak people.
Now I know that you @DosmariaValensia and @Lucii both of you are get the Batak Heritage, so where ever you go you can make lappet to all of your friends and guests.
