Lal Qila (Red Fort) Delhi

On my recent trip to India, I had an opportunity to visit Delhi and do some sightseeing. One of the location I visited in delhi was Red Fort also known as Lal Qila. We spent almost couple of hours in red fort, visiting various structures within the red fort. This is an iconic monument that has stood the test of time for over three centuries. It was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1639 and completed in 1648. Lal Qila, is made of red sandstone and it represents rich cultural heritage of India.

We reached around 10AM in the morning. Here is a shot from the front of Lal Qila. I believe this is where during India’s Independence Day celebrations on August 15th, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag and addresses the nation.

Here is a shot as we were entering inside the redfort.

Once we go through this arch, we enter Chatta Chowk Bazar, also known as the Meena Bazaar, is a historic market located within the walls of the Red Fort in Old Delhi, India. The bazaar was originally built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century and was a popular shopping destination for the royal women who resided in the Red Fort.

Shot of inside Meena bazar. There were few vendors selling items here.

Shot taken as I exited Meena Bazaar.

Compensating for the hazy air pollution is not an easy task. Plenty of contrast and color saturation. Great job.

Cheers

Hello @jayasimha78 , How nostalgic this post makes me feel. I was in Agra for one day in 2015.

Congratulations for the description, the photos are beautiful.
I share this photo to see if it was taken in the same place. I wasn’t tidy enough at the time, I took hundreds of photos and then archived them without a name.

Hello, fellow LG @soumikhira ,

Happy to see you active and supporting fellow LGs.

But,

If you don’t TAG, the other LG won’t get any “Notification” that you have responded to.

How to TAG: Simply by typing the symbol @ before the User Name of an LG (as I have done above, to you), you can send a notification (TAG) to the other member. Ex: if you need to TAG me, then type @ followed by TravellerG - then I will get a notification - for more details, click 'Here’.

@soumikhira Thank You!

Great pictures @jayasimha78 ! :hushed: I’m amazed how photography can take you and experience sightseeing places with just one sense… in this case with impressions sensed by the eye. I hope I can visit Delhi some day. Loved the Refort! :+1:

Interesting to see it - I’ve been to Delhi, but didn’t have chance to visit the red fort. I was told the complex used to be much larger before the 1857 revolt.
