On my recent trip to India, I had an opportunity to visit Delhi and do some sightseeing. One of the location I visited in delhi was Red Fort also known as Lal Qila. We spent almost couple of hours in red fort, visiting various structures within the red fort. This is an iconic monument that has stood the test of time for over three centuries. It was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1639 and completed in 1648. Lal Qila, is made of red sandstone and it represents rich cultural heritage of India.
We reached around 10AM in the morning. Here is a shot from the front of Lal Qila. I believe this is where during India’s Independence Day celebrations on August 15th, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag and addresses the nation.
Here is a shot as we were entering inside the redfort.Once we go through this arch, we enter Chatta Chowk Bazar, also known as the Meena Bazaar, is a historic market located within the walls of the Red Fort in Old Delhi, India. The bazaar was originally built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century and was a popular shopping destination for the royal women who resided in the Red Fort.
