In February 2019, I had to attend an appointment at the General Hospital of Mexico, Doctor Eduarlo Liceaga. This hospital has all the medical specialties. To make an appointment and enter the hospital is a journey. There are pages that say you must attend the hospital in person to request an appointment, and others that you should call a number. Finally I managed to find the number to schedule the appointment. He had to pay the amount of $ 118 pesos in a bank.
Upon arrival the day of the hospital consultation, you had to pass the security filter, they do not allow you to enter the hospital unless you have a card or show that you have an appointment. I paid for my consultation that same day in the hospital, there are bank windows to be able to pay for services without having to go to another branch and
everything is done inside the hospital.
Being inside the hospital, I realized that there was no signage of where the offices were or where the toilets were. You should ask other people where to go, but some did not know where that place was or they sent you to another place where there was nothing. I managed to get to my office, I had my consultation with the doctor and he sent me to another specialist,
I had to make an appointment for a new consultation. Finally, when I went to look for my specialist, I had to go further inside the hospital and what a surprise, to find many corridors and buildings, full of people, patients, doctors, nurses and security personnel, going in all directions, I was in a labyrinth.
I found a map of the entire hospital, it was by color sections, in the columns of the corridors, there was a color strip, which indicated in the section that you were. I looked for the building of my specialty and another great surprise, it was to the bottom of the hospital, I tried to memorize a path, I took a photo of the map, to get there, but walking among so many people, that sometimes stretchers with patients crossed, they distracted Along the way, I was finally able to find my specialty building and schedule my appointment for the following week.
At the General Hospital of Mexico, people come from all over the country and of many ages and if you attended alone, like me on that occasion, it would be easy to get lost and despair when not finding the place you are looking for. On one of those visits, I had to see a man who was injured, who had come walking to the hospital and alone, was bleeding from the head and there were blood stains on his shirt, they had told him to go pay the emergency service and He had arrived at the laboratory, near the laboratory was a bank box where you could make payments, but the man looked puzzled, weak, walked at a slow pace and looked desperate and sad. From my first visit, I had no doubt that I should warn the following patients to arrive at the hospital of what they would find inside. During 2019 I had several visits to the hospital and in that year, there were no signs indicating how to get to any part of the hospital.
Again in February 2020, I had to go back to a new appointment and what a surprise it will take me. As I entered the hallways and buildings, I saw that signs were posted at all corners to direct to all buildings and services. Large signs in blue and white letters, which indicate where the laboratories, the boxes, the exit, the bathrooms, the surgery tower are, everything was marked, no one would ever miss it again. At that moment I thought that someone from the General Hospital of Mexico had read my review and decided to take into account my opinion on the signage inside the hospital.
The Hospital fulfills its main service, which is to care for patients with their illnesses and to have quality facilities to provide good service, but it has left aside something basic, which is to indicate to visitors how to move within the hospital. I think that was the result of my review, getting the hospital to realize something as fundamental as signage, seeing it done, there, on a sign.
I received from Google an email about that review, which had been the most viewed of all my reviews, I have not received many responses from that review, but it has been seen by 16,301 people to this day, people who maybe I made your hospital stay a little easier.
