PThis weekend, just for want of relaxation I decided to explore and give myself a treat. Guess where I found to wine and dine ; on an aeroplane!!! It wasn’t flying though,it was grounded. You don’t really need a special gate fee to get in, just walk in,to order for a meal.
It’s an old aeroplane operated by the former Ghana Airways. For some reasons, it went bankrupt and collapsed. Instead of abandoning the old plane and letting it rot away they came up with this snazzy idea- A Restaurant !!! It’s the first of it’s kind to the best of my knowledge in Africa.
It’s location is very ideal,a stone throw from the international airport here in Accra Ghana. The interior is very nice, another place to have on your bucket list if it’s not already on it.
There is a nice little bar in the cockpit and first class section combined together. It’s fully air-conditioned of course. The plane setting still remains with a few adjustments just to make it spacious , comfortable and romantic as well.
I just like the creativity behind it. Wonder have you any extra ordinary restaurant or some place around you like this? Please feel free to share it with us here. Hope you like the post and maybe in your travels you’ll visit the place someday.
this is a very special restaurant indeed, all the meals I had on an airplane are the standard inflight meals but not so far a restaurant meal in a parked airplane.
I remember have seen some time ago a tv show about the most strange restaurant locations and there were few mentioned inside airplanes, so there are other similar somewhere else.
Thank you for sharing your special experience with us.
Thank you for your very nice comment. It’s quite a thrilling experience. Sitting at the table you could look out into the city just like you look into the clouds on a flight. It gives the meal a special taste as well.
Most of the plane settings remains the same other features have been altered to make it more comfortable. The waiters look like the air hostess as well, very nice in all.
I didn’t know they were others of the like. around the world. That’s the first and probably the only one in west Africa.
Thank you for sharing your experience. There’s a similar aeroplane restaurant I want to visit, named Rumah Kayu. Unfortunately because of Covid-19, they are open only for takeaway now.
Hello @Lusianaa thanks for stopping by at my post. It’s nice something similar exists somewhere else in the world. This is the 1st and maybe the only one in west Africa for now,so it’s unique and nice. A pity te pandemic is still on, Maybe some day the pandemic will be over and you will be free to visit.
Actually we have more than one @SholaIB but some of them are located outside the city where I live. You might find these aeroplane concept restaurants interesting:
