Konya, the ancient foundation of Turkic Empire

Konya, it’s a famous spot in Turkey, but the typical tour groups of foreigners usually doesn’t visit here. This is the Ancient capitol city of the Sultanate of Rum. This was the center of power for the Seljuk Turks. These are in fact different than the Ottoman Turks which eventually took over the area and founded the Ottoman Empire. The Seljuk are a heavily Persian influenced Turkic peoples. It was these Seljuk’s that the Crusaders fought in the crusades. This is also the cultural heart land of of the Sufi’s which were a type of mysticism from Islam. They became famous for their type of dancing prayer also known as Swirling Dervishes. The founder of the order was named Melvana and his museum and tomb is located in the Mosque where the green tower is attached. I know given today’s climate I think it’s good to point out such an order which teaches peace and being connected to god to bring peace and joy. I connected a link to Konya and the Melvana Museum.

LOL I can’t claim that much thought went into my photo. That was the view from the hotel balcony that we had. From that I look through my phone’s screen until it felt right
