Hello local guides from around the world.
I am of Indian origin from Fiji. Our great grand parents were brought from India to work on sugar cane farms in Fiji. I migrated to New Zealand (NZ) from Fiji 10 years ago. Today I want to share something about Maori culture, the natives of NZ.
Kia Ora - it means hello in Maori. I also visited a local Marae where Maori meet for social and religious activities. The culture is very unique and the guests and hosts hongi (press noses) and hariru (shake hands) in greeting.
Here I am standing in front of a Marae wearing white (left) Kia Ora t-shirt from NZ. I hope you have learn something new about NZ culture today. I will continue learning more about NZ and sharing it with you all here. Make sure to visit a Marae when you visit NZ.
Regards
Yogesh
