Near the capital Reykjavik. It is located in the Grímsnes area and is part of the Golden Circle.
It was formed about 6500 years ago, probably from a cone of slag.

Hi @YamaPurusha ,
Thanks for sharing this beautiful photo with the community! It would be nice if you share a bit more information about the place. That’s how you are going to make your post more interesting for the other Local Guides.
To make your future post more engaging I recommend you to read the article What makes a good post?.
Hi @YamaPurusha ,
Thanks for sharing this unique lake with us!
It is nice to point out the locations of the places you share on Connect by adding the link from Google maps like this - Karid Crater lake, so that everyone can easily find them when searching. There is also a great 360 virtual walk at the lake.
It would definitely be great if you share more places and photos from your trip to Iceland.
@KatyaL hi, I would like to understand why I was reiterated again, although I already find the link google maps with placeholders on the map.
Hi @YamaPurusha ,
Thank you for pointing out the location. My comment was more about when mentioning the title of a place in a sentence, that you can also add the link from Google Maps. It’s easier to click on it when, for example, I’m using Connect on my mobile phone. Anyways, you’ve added it and it’s looking nice!
Spettacolare! Complimenti e grazie per la bellissima foto. Buona giornata.
@Carmelina62 Thanks for the appreciation! Good day!
