Shakti puja is an important aspect of Indian culture. Shakti means power. The faith of all people is based on power in one form or another. This temple of Shri Kankai Mataji in Gir is a traditional and significant place of Shakti puja.
This temple of Shri Kankai Mataji is located in the middle of the Gir National Park in the Junagadh district of Gujarat state. Shri Kankeshwari Mataji is seated in the Shikharbandh main temple. There are also temples of Shiva, Ganesha, and Hanuman. The river Shingwado flows just below the temple. Bhudarji’s (The Local God) temple is located behind Mataji’s temple. During Navratri of Chaitra month (6th lunar month in Hindu calendar), a large number of devotees come here for darshan.
Due to the dense forest surrounding the temple, you have to travel during the day to reach this place. Pilgrims visiting the temple are required to seek permission from the forest department. After 6 pm, it is prohibited to visit this temple (from the check post) as per the rules of the forest department.
A small Dharmshala has been built by the trust next to the temple. In which free meals are arranged for the devotees who come here. Also, arrangements have been made for 50 pilgrims to stay overnight here.
It is said that The city of Kankai was founded by a king named Kanak Chavda in the 8th century and Maa Kankai was established as the presiding deity of the town.
I have visted the place many times in my life. I am use to with the road From Amreli Dhari. Dalkhania sapnes Chhodvadi and last kankai. You can also go from another route like Junagadh Sasan or visavadar. Mostly all road are with rough surface you can run your four wheel vehicle mostly In second gear. Your four wheel vehicle must be with sufficient ground clearance. From Amreli you can get state transport bus service. But is advisable to get information whether it is operational or not.If your vehicle is not in good condition it is advisable to go with rented vehicle. From Dhari you can hire private vehicle. Mostly night holt permission is not given by forest department. You can book rest room from temple management.
Glad to know that you have visited this place many times @Jitendra_pandya .
There are 3 to 4 ways to get here and the road conditions are not good here as all these roads pass through the forest.

The spiritual peace that is found here in the temple precincts is hard to find anywhere else. If you ever get a chance to come here, you must visit. @turbrejinhos
