As a traveller I am always explore number of various locations/ destinations.
Also we travel a lot with our family so our travel plans are always divided like backpack , luxury or family trip.
Since our kiddo born now we added lot of kids friendly destinations in our list.
Wherever we travel we make sure that our kid should enjoy . So our recent trip to Pune / wai is similar example.
We have been travel multiple times to these locations but never visited to “ Joshi rail Museum “.
So we went to this museum at Pune , this small museum is located in heart of Pune city. Ticket cost is 120/-.
Building is very old style and you won’t believe that there is such place in the building.
So we book a time slot and then climbing old staircase towards museum. When we entered it was like we are entering into train compartment.
As soon as we entered in a room , it was very old style room with a huge round table. Ale there was a small control room with controller.
Around this table there was 2 steps to stand and railing to hold.
As we were waiting how is going to start suddenly all lights gone and table lighten up. And our reaction was wow !
And then some old voice came the rail show started. We all so amused to see such details, concepts , lighting designs, controls and train collections on single table.
And this is designed in 90 when there was no such technology available.
Being an Architect we did lot of scale models and it was always precision and tedious job. It was really fun to make it , then digital model making came and now 3D printing.
Back then in 90s bhau Joshi made all the details , lighting control everything. He build actual city with all the human movements, moving trains , travelling cars amusement parks everything.
I realise it’s not fascinating just to kids but for adults as well
Why to visit this place because there very few rail miniature museums in all over the world. And I am glad one is in Pune.
Being very rare concept I feel this museum needs be improve or upgrade.
Place should clean and souvenirs options should be more. More information about the person , train history is needed. Maybe small use of AR / VR can make big g difference.
The other museum in Wai is totally designed in modern era. You can see all the new buildings, stations etc. if Pune is also similar then it will be the must visit place in Pune.
