P L Deshapande Public Garden Pune**.**
I with my family members visited the Pune Okayama Friendship Garden or P.L. deshapande Garden recently and enjoyed ourselves with the natural beauty and atmosphere, water stream, artificial bridges and landscaped area and many more.
This garden is located on Sinhagad road in Dattawadi (Pune Municipal corporation area) and managed by the Garden Department of the PMC. The entrance fee is Rs. 5 per person. This place has well maintained Wash room, drinking water and wheel chair access parking and entrance. You have to pay for parking charges for your vehicle. The garden timing is 06.30 to 10.30 a.m. and 16.00 to 20.00 p.m.
This garden is a symbol of Indo-Japanese friendship between partner cities of Pune and Okayama and truly pride of Pune. The idea of recreating the original Japanese garden in Pune, as explained in PMC website, was inspired from the 300 years old Okayama Korakuen Garden in Okayama city developed by the Ikeda Royal family.
This Japanese-style garden in Pune is spread over an area of 10 acres and as a person strolls, he can enjoy the wide lawns, ponds artificial hills, Forests, while listening to the murmur of meandering stream. This would bring you close to the nature, revitalize there senses and rejuvenate them spiritually.
The characteristics of the garden are a composition of fire, harmony, line, spirit, world and water. There are wooden pagodas to sit and rest as well as bright red orange fishes in the ponds
This is the biggest garden of Japanese style in Asia, inaugurated on 19 th January 2006 by the Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh of Maharashtra state and Masohiro Eshi san, Governor of Okayama province of Japan. The Design and technical work were conducted by Shimoden Landscape and Civil Engineering Co. Ltd during May 2004 - Dec 2005.
It is the best place in Pune to enjoy with the family members with the nature, Natural beauty with tranquility and every one should visit while in Pune.
