Japan Trip Tips - Halal Ramen

Beware of unnecessarily extravagant and overpriced food offered to unaware tourists.

Many tourists come to Japan specifically to eat ramen. A standard bowl here is under 1,000 yen, even with lots of toppings, and most Japanese people don’t usually pay more than that.

On the other hand, some halal ramen places sell items like 4,000yen Wagyu ramen. This is a price and a style that most locals would find completely unfamiliar.

Occasionally, there are truly special high-end ramen restaurants.

However, more reasonably priced halal ramen does exist.
This shop’s ramen, for example, is about 1,500 yen. It’s expensive for Japan, but local reviews say that while the taste is just okay, the price makes sense for halal food.

Looks amazing! What are your favorite ingredients or additions you like in your ramen, @MasaruKamikura ?

I’m a fan of a good, classic bowl of ramen rather than anything too fancy. That’s why I usually stick to their original menu item.
I don’t like going to restaurants where the ordering is complicated or overly elaborate.

Each shop has its own recommendations. You don’t have to get it, but if you’re curious, it’s always best to ask the staff.

Great post @MasaruKamikura

Thanks for the heads-up—important for tourists to know that delicious ramen in Japan is usually under 1,000 yen. Some places do overcharge, especially targeting visitors.

Also, that ramen photo looks too tempting! :face_savoring_food:
I recently tried ramen in Kolkata and it was awesome too!

Have you tried any other budget-friendly spots you’d recommend?

You can’t talk about Japanese ramen without mentioning cup ramen.
There are the everyday ones you can grab for 100-200 yen, but you can also find fancier ones for around 300 yen that taste just like the ramen from famous restaurants.
Honestly, they nail the flavor of the real thing about 80% to 90% of the time. For less than half the price of a restaurant bowl and ready with just hot water, the satisfaction is easily 120%.
It’s an amazing deal.

If you’re a ramen lover and you come to Japan, be sure to buy some.

Absolutely agree! @MasaruKamikura
Cup ramen in Japan is on another level — the taste, variety, and convenience are unbeatable. I have heard a lot about that.

If God will send me Japan sometime, then definitely I will try it.
