Janmashtami is a widely celebrated festival that marks the Birth Anniversary of Hindu Mythological God, Lord Krishna.
Not only in India, but there are countless devotees of Lord Krishna in the entire world and it’s not a surprise that there are many Iskcon temples dedicated to Lord Krishna around the world.
In Delhi also, there are numerous temples dedicated to Him. Janmashtami is one of the most auspicious festivals for the people here. The people here make it a point to visit temples and seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, without any consideration of weather, crowd or anything else. Celebrations are in full swing every year.
Personally I have the opinion that we need not visit any religious place to talk to God, but it is the highly positive and cheerful environment that makes me visit temples on such occasions.
For the last two years (2017, 2018) I was not in Delhi on Janmashtami but even then I ensured that I must visit atleast 1 temple. In 2017, I was in Warsaw, Poland and visited the Hare Kryzna temple (Iskcon temple) over there. In 2018, I visited as many as 4 temples in Jaipur, India for Janmashtmi.
This year I finally had the opportunity again to celebrate Janmashtami in Delhi and it was as wonderful as always.
Here a few pictures of Janmashtami celebrations in Delhi:
