JagMandir - The Palace on an Island

There are palaces.

Then there are palaces, inside forts which are on top of a hill.

Here’s a rare combination of a city with a lake with an island that has a breathtaking palace built on that island.

Welcome to the Jagmandir Palace in the royal city of Udaipur in India.

As seen in the picture above, a boat ride is taken to reach the island palace.

At the entrance is a gate and on both sides are two majestic elephant statues made in marble.

If you look above at the ceiling when standing at the gate, the inside face is decorated with a beautiful design.

Inside the palace is the courtyard that is both spacious and decorated with fountains and sprawling lawns. Also present are plenty of seating places like benches made of iron or concrete.

Looking over the peaceful lake is another set of elephant statues that appear like standing on water.

There is also a lovely restaurant which offers buffet lunch in the afternoon though it is highly over-priced.

Finally, here’s a panoramic view of the Jagmandir Palace.

Thanks, @vijayparadkar

JagMandir is a place not to be missed but the boat ride is too expensive and it takes up almost half a day.

Maybe you could cover in the next visit

Hi @MahabubMunna

The entry to the palace is free but the boat ride cost us 3 elders and 1 young total 2700 INR which is approx 35 USD

Also, make sure you have your breakfast/lunch in the town since the only hotel on the island costs INR 1200-1500 for adults for buffet and 750 for kids.
