Just Read news It means We can’t be contribution to as a Local Guides ? We can’t publish Street view images ?
i love do that when i will visit new places so , its help lots of people BUT now its take over by Big Companies like Mahindra
if this is end i have One Suggestion to GOOGLE LOCAL GUIDES
They pay the big companies lot of money for that
I think in INDIA lot of Local Guides who have good Level in Local Guide So they Can give the chance to local guides Not to the big companies We are here to help always free
A lot of Indian Local Guides are asking about to have Google Cars to provide Street View in India, so I personally don’t see this as a bad news.
I think that to read the whole article instead of only the title will help you to better understand what is going on: "Alphabet Inc’s Google Maps has launched its street view service in 10 cities in India in partnership with Tech Mahindra and Genesys, a company executive said on Wednesday.
The Indian government had previously rejected the rollout of the feature, which shows panoramic images of roads and other sites.
The rollout was denied due to security reasons, according to local media. Data collection was entirely done by the local partners, Google said on Wednesday, adding that the service will be available in 50 Indian cities by the end of this year."
I do not see this as a way to block what we can already do: adding Street Views using the the Video Mode (we are talking about street view - street level).
Have you already added Blue lines in Maps in that way?
I read these headlines the same as you @ErmesT - this looks like good news to me. @lovedeepsingh - the greatest amount of StreetView photography can be added to Maps when businesses and Local Guides cooperate. I suspect that this will open up unique opportunities to StreetView contributions. While some of the roads are being covered in blue lines, it is Local Guides who will be going into the parks, public spaces and other areas not accessible by vehicle but which viewers will be wanting to see on as well. StreetView cars can cover amazing amounts of ground in a single day, but they cannot leave the streets. Only Local Guides can!
I do agree with @ErmesT and @Kwiksatik .Well the more the merrier @lovedeepsingh we can think like that maybe. So what the big companies are doing the street view, we take photos of local businesses up close and promote locally owned businesses. We enter the parks and places where they can’t. So it’s ok @lovedeepsingh . Let’s keep contributing.
I Just read your comment , i was also read lot of Local Guides asking for Google Cars. So it mean tech Mahindra Can provide the Google Local Guide these cars? or they do own ? if someone want to add Blue lines which mentioned in the comment whole city or village they can do own ? Or Google will provide this ?
Yes its good news i know but May be google can Provide option for Local Guides also They can publish this kind of Blue lines roads, There is just option only in mobile app 360 photo ,if someone hai 360 camera then he will publish blue lines Roads with softwares. I hope google give us option do all things on mobile also i want to contribute more and more i love to do my plan was my hometown like blue lines There is no such kind of options.
My main focus on that , lot of Local Guides are doing here for free and love to do But there are lot question i just read on the google forum They want to More active but they want to earn but there is no option but the Read the news, when Companies do they charge lot of money from google they are not doing free like Local Guides Who already contribute lot for people .
Just the statement in your post “It means we can’t contribute as local guides…” I don’t fully agree with that. To start with,a better way to look at this is to say this is an achievement for India as a country.
The second thing is that here in Nigeria, there are blue lines and street view images by Google for a good many years, yet I have a SVTP badge and there are a host of others like me in Nigeria with the badge. We have been contributing and keep contributing to SV in Nigeria.
