I have also spent days—probably adding up to months—picking up trash myself, so I know exactly how rewarding it feels to give back to the Earth. In the past, I even organized a monthly local beach cleanup where volunteers would gather and fan out in different directions to clear the coastline.
Leading by example really works. My son watched me do this for years, and now he does the exact same thing! It has made him incredibly aware of his surroundings and the harms facing our local environment. While I wish more people stepped up to do this kind of work, I honestly wish litter didn’t happen at all.
I think your effort to bring this type of environmental awareness to the Local Guides community is amazing. Thank you for sharing your message and setting such a great example!
