Qanat Quartier precinct at Doha’s Pearl Island where Venetian charm meets Arabian chic. With pastel-colored low-rise buildings, intricate canals, pedestrian-friendly piazzas, Qanat Quartier precinct is Qatar’s very own little Venice. Each waterway is spanned by stylish bridges further evoking the soul of Italian romantic living.
Although the area has a Venice design, Arabic music plays throughout the precinct and also the call to prayer at prayer times.
As always, a story nicely told of such a scenic and seemingly ‘heavenly’ part of the world I otherwise would know almost nothing about. Thank you so much for sharing @TheEagleEye !
it’s great to discover how Italian culture can be used around the world. Recently I have been to Las Vegas and also there I have seen the reproductions of monuments from all over the world, the corner dedicated to Venice is really well done.
The use of local music and the maintenance of traditional indications of prayer are excellent ways to integrate the European structure in a context of conviviality.
Thanks for notify the teamitaly about this local info.
thank you for tagging me (and #TeamItaly :-)), I always love to see pieces of Italy somewhere in the world.
But indeed wow, the Qatar’s Venice is a very nice reproduction, really nice! I think Venice is very popular because of its special appeal, I still remember The Venetian hotel in Las Vegas which reproduced even the gondole with its gondolieri.
I just appreciated the creativity here. A piece of Venice in Doha is interesting in first place and from this , could even begin to influence Doha architecture. Kudos to those who conceived this ingenious idea. @TheEagleEye thanks for sharing .
I believe is a great solution for tourists all round that visit Doha to have a glimpse of what could be actually Venice, maybe it can help tourists to come to Italy to see the “original” Venice.
Thanks for message @nicspelgatti . It may have the feel of Venice with the canals and building designs, but certainly lacks the historic feel and ambience of Venice in Italy.
I have been to Venice in Italy twice; in July 2012, and March 2017. I have travelled throughout Italy several times, although my favourite regions of Tuscany and Liguria.
