The museum is growing, and many new airplanes are waiting their hangar.
The history starts with a Wright replica and a Forlanini helicopter replica an amazing machine, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci projects, the first ever engine-powered thing more heavy than air to fly.
But the main collection is composed by some “Idrocorsa”, the fastest machine ever built in their category, like the C29 one of the fastest and beautiful racing seaplane in the world: priceless. 1000 Hp engine on a 900 Kg body, or the Macchi Castoldi 72, winner of the Schneider cup with the amazing speed of 709 Kmh (record owner for piston engines seaplanes, undefeated since 1934) thanks to a “double” 12 V engine capable of 3100 Hp on a 2500 Kg body.
The collection includes also recent jet fighters, and their grandpa, the Caproni-Campini CC2 a tubed fan jet with postburners, a great experimental airplane.
Very nice post and great 360 photos. Your VT are amazing. It is so good to visit the S82, C47, 212, S79 of the Italian Aeronautic Museum. I really enjoyed it.
As usual @LucioV very nice quality documentary and photography. It’s a real shame that quality posts like this get so quickly pushed down by the volume of nonsensical or low quality posts. Unfortunately, the problem seems to be exacerbated by the new Connect. Quite frankly I only saw this post of yours after linking to it from your “Quality Posts” recommendation. I didn’t see it when I was browsing the Photography topic. A shame, for sure.
