Island of the Dead, DAY OF THE DEAD, DIA DE LOS MUERTOS, MICHOACAN Mexico.

THE DAY OF THE DEAD have special Meaning at this place because each year at 2 of NOVEMBER day of the Dead, hundred of people mostly the people who lives at the Island, have a celebration of the Dead remembering their love ones at the CEMETERY of the ISLAND, putting Orange Flowers (Cempasuchil flowers using like the Way from the underworld to the World of the Living), Candles (Light for the souls), and Food, (The favorite food of their love ones).

Michoacan without Doubt is one of the Most Beautiful States of Mexico, and to show this Janitzio that is in the Patzcuaro Lake, a couple of hours from Morelia, I recommend you take the tour to the island of Janitzio, in the dock of the Lake of patzcuaro you buy the tickets, do not forget to try the Charanda (Michoacan typical drink) and eat Charalitos (little fish from the same lake). The climbs on the island are steep take your time to climb them, enjoy the scenery is a dream, visit the pantheon that is famous worldwide for the festival of the day of the dead, I assure you will like it.

You can take the Boat at the Embarcadero of Patzcuaro Lake. the price is around $5 Dollars for Round Trip.

@AlexandreCampbell I think that you should include this place in your bucket list for Mexico, cause here in Janitzio Island, Morelia, is where the real tradition of Day of the Dead can be testified in its whole dimension.

Greetings for both of you!
