Is this a park, or a big restaurant? Night at Chiklee Water Garden in Rangpur

Rangpur is the largest city in northern Bangladesh. The headquarters of the Rangpur division is in this city. Recently I visited this city during my term-break vacation. I toured inside and outside the city to the countryside of Gangachara subdistrict and visited many parks, Begum Rokeya University and Carmichael College campus, RAMC shopping complex, Tajhat Zamindar Bari and Mohipur Teesta bridge. Apart from these places, there is another place that I have found to be notable, and that is Chiklee Water Garden.

Chiklee Water Garden is in Chiklee Water Park, which is situated on the north bank of Chiklee Beel. Before the construction of the park began in 2018, the lake was once used as a landing station for seaplanes.

Since I was told that the view of the park is more enjoyable at night, we visited the park after sunset. I was accompanied by some local friends who also guided me around Rangpur. We had to buy tickets from the counter at the entrance of the park, which cost 50 taka per person to enter the water park. We walked around the park after entering. Although it was evening, the park was packed with visitors.

The park was well-lit and well-maintained. There was a waterfall in the park decorated with colorful lights. It was full of visitors posing for pictures. The water from the fountain was flowing through small canals full of colorful small fishes. There were also seating arrangements with gardens around them beside those canals. The park was beautifully decorated with trees also.

The park had many recreation zones such as off-road go-cart, toy train, Ferris wheel, game zone and kids’ zone. There were also three restaurants under the name of “Chiklee Water Garden”, fast food shop named “Happy Zone”, a cafÊ named “Chiklee Lake View CafÊ” and a clothing store. Seeing so many restaurants in the park made me feel like we were not in a park, but a big restaurant.

The restaurants of Chiklee Water Graden can be defined in three categories. Firstly, the “Orchid” was the most premium restaurant in the park. It was air-conditioned with indoor seating arrangements. The interior of the restaurant was well-decorated. The restaurant was divided into multiple compartments with aquariums full of colorful fishes.

Check out My review of Chiklee Water Garden - Orchid Restaurant on Google Maps

Secondly, the “Lotus” was a restaurant with an outdoor seating arrangement. The seating was decorated with gardens around them and was placed on the bank of the canal full of colorful fishes. There were also some cabins over the canals.

Thirdly, the “Tulip” was an outdoor food court. It seemed to be the most economical of all. It was located at the bottom of the Ferris wheel.

The Ferris Wheel of the park is considered to be one of the largest in Bangladesh. But I was advised not to ride on it because the windows of the cabins of the wheel are covered with semi-transparent sheets, which prevents the riders from having a clear view of the surroundings from the wheel. Also, we couldn’t enjoy the view of Chiklee Lake itself since it was dark.

Finally, we concluded our tour of the park after tasting a glass of sweet lacchi from the Orchid restaurant.

Chiklee Water Park is a must-visit place for anyone who is visiting Rangpur for the first time. It will be recommended to visit the park in the afternoon so that one can enjoy both day and night views of the park as well as the lake.

Although I was suggested to visit the park at night, I was very fascinated by the beautiful scene of Chiklee Lake during the day which is nicely depicted in this “underrated connect post” by @Jamilmahmud . Sadly, I found this post only after returning from the park. So, this is why I’m looking forward to visiting Chiklee Water Park again if I come to Rangpur in the future.

Thank you for reading the post! Share your opinions about the park and your experiences if you had visited the park.

Yes, I did think about it before posting, but didn’t do it because I felt a bit lazy

However, I’ve added the map links this time.

Thank you for reminding me @MortenCopenhagen :+1:
