Hi all
Today I was working with the app and suddenly the color scheme of the map base layer and roads changed!
I also checked it on other users app and also the web version but no change was visible there. I also cleared the data of the app and opened it again but this change is still stable on my app.
Personally, I like some parts of this change but is this really a change? Is someone else experiencing the same?

Not sure if it is a bug, test, or something else from the server side. Let’s wait to see how long the current condition persists! I hope others also share if they see the same thing.

I am experiencing the new colour grading on Google Maps. I think it is in the Beta stage and having a limited rollout at some regions.

So yes, it seems a limited rollout. But not related to regions since I asked a few others and they don’t see this here.

Still working the same here in Western USA. Thought I’d see if one of the other settings may have changed, and found 2 new feature “Map details”, Air Quality, and Wildfires. I’m curious whether they want/need feedback in regards to the new rollout. - Steve

Air Quality and Wildfire layers are from last year but they seem like new features until you tap on them!
In the previous color scheme update, there were no specific feedback methods for it. But definitely, they consider in-app feedback and more for any update. So I also sent feedback based on the suggestion of @MortenCopenhagen .

I really only stumbled on them to see if I could find any other reason you might be seeing something different.
Yes, Even I saw that “New” balloon since I cleared the data and catch of the app 
I also tested layers that change the color scheme like Bike since it was nearly similar at first glance.

this morning my Google Maps changed to this new color scheme. I’m connected in Italy, Sardinia.
Please note that this change are reflected only on my desktop version (MacOs and chrome). On mobile and table I still have the “old” version.
This is the area where I am now, and I check it daily (for a StreetView project of the National Park).
Does exist a “color agenda”? What the different gray scale are representing?
Also the street color scheme are changed. In this screenshot (an area near Milano where the Highway start) you can see that the Yellow color for the Highway has been changed but really difficult to see due the same color grade of the 3 different street that you see (Highway, SP ( a sort of highway) and a Local )
Personally I preferred the old high contrast for the street coloring (yellow and gray)

It is nice since you see these new colors on the desktop while I still see the old version on the desktop. Usually (not all times though) changes happen at the same time on the desktop.
As I see, I think those gray areas refer to rocky lands. And yes, the color of the roads also changed and I guess Google wants to make roads not only bolder but also more similar to the asphalt!
Indeed I like these new colors for roads but it would be even better if we had more control over the colors theme we see on our devices.

Can’t believe the in-app feedback of the users really was effective within such a short time! The green lines of the traffic came back (As I saw from others, it applied since a few weeks ago) but to me, it applied just today!
